Description:
Biddulph Grange Garden, a mid-19th century garden with a collection of plants from around the world, lay almost forgotten in the grounds of an orthopedic hospital and had progressively fallen prey to vandalism and lack of money. After the garden was bought by National trust the main repair works took place from 1988 - 1991 and consisted of reconstructing the Chinese Temple, Joss House, bridge, ruins, repairing the sculpture, rebuilding the Cheshire Cottage, digging out and recreating the Dahlia Walk and rebuilding the East Terrace retaining wall. In parallel with the reconstruction of the hard landscape, overgrown evergreens were cut back and trees were replanted.
