Phikardou is one of the most important traditional settlements still surviving in Cyprus and was declared as an Ancient Monument on the whole in 1978. The "House of Katsinioros" is a two storey stone-built structure, dating back to the 16th century, covered with a wooden pitched roof. Restored as a living museum, the upper floor refurbished in the style of 1918, ground floor rooms were shown in their original form for storage, pressing grapes, cooking. House of Achilleas Dimitri, dating back to the 19th century, had two storeys and auxiliary buildings on a higher ground level surrounding a small courtyard. Ground floor with masonry and wooden pitched roof forming a veranda. Restoration with traditional materials for the use as weaver's workshop and guesthouse.
