Description:
The building complex was acquired in 1996 in a stage of collapse. The complex was originally built in 1888 and it was used as dwelling hause. The main aim was its restoration to its original form and make it functionable to new uses preserving in full its original character. The work carried out under the strict control of the Antiquities and the Town Planning and Housing Depts. Materials and methods used adhered to the original format. Full restoration of the period fumiture, found in the building in very bad condition, by highly professional expert. The complex will be used for several purposes: as a hostel and rehabilitation center for the unprotected/abandoned children, as a seminar & conference center, as a venue for exhibition and workshop of arts and crafts. The building complex will also host social events in collaboration with the local authorities, fund raising activities, a tourist information center for the old city of Nicosia and be the meeting place of Lions Clubs . The venue will also accommodate the "Medic Alert" and "Lions-Quest" programs and be suitable for other uses, which may come along.
