Description:
The project involved the re-establishment of the fortification complex from the 1660's around the Citadel. The defence scheme was disfigured in the 1890's by the construction of a road and railway that ran through the Citadel. ln the 1980's, the possibility arose of removing the railway tracks and the road, while reconstructing the Prinsessens Bastion and the Kongeport gate bridge as weil as part of the moat. This project was completed in 1989. ln 1987, the road to Langelinie was closed and the final reconstruction work could be carried out. ln 1998-1999, Grevens Bastion, Sjcellands Ravelin, the moat and Sjcellands Ravelins bridge were reconstructed. ln connection with this work, the Gefion bridge was moved, renovated and a garage building was torn down.
