Description:
Restoration and adaptation of 13 peasant houses on "Rac Utca", Serbian Street, close to the 18th century baroque church. The houses now serve to various purposes: guest house, restaurant, gallery, shops, museum, sculpture studio and residence. In 1985, just at the last minute, IKARUS, Body and Coach Building Works, shouldered the task of the complete renovation of one of the uninhabited houses, encouraging other local companies to do the same; the appeal was successful. They have been saved by the cooperation between the local government and local companies. The 13 buildings survived the demolition and replacement by modern blocks. Restoration did preserved the original body, traditional architectural details, ground-plan and appearance of the houses. It includes the landscaping of the house's gardens.
